Next put a chain or heavy rope around the Deer's neck and around the loose portion of the hide. Be sure to leave the ears on the hide as this provides a gripping point for the chain on the hide for the pull. Also cut the skin on the front of the front legs and on an angle toward the head - I'll explain why later.
Please note the chain around the ears on the hide.
Then attach the hide to a "Dead man" support. The bumper of your truck will work just fine.
Now raise the deer with a hoist or block and tackle. Pulling the hide with a vehicle is NOT recommended!!!
Continue to raise the deer.
You must now pull the tags of skin from the breast of the deer by hand being careful not to touch the skinned carcass. These tags of skin are seen on the left side of the photo below.
VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!
Look at the deer in the picture below. When it looks like this, Stop pulling with the machine NOW!!!! Or you can pull the deer in two, which gets the meat dirty and renders it unfit for human consumption. Again when pulling potions of the hide by hand be careful not to touch the carcass with your hands.
The large dark area in the center of this photo is an exit gunshot wound.
Once this skin is pulled free by hand the deer will look like the photo below and you may then continue machine pulling the skin.
The small dark area in this photo is an entry gunshot wound. All this dark meat must be discarded.
